NEWS SHEET MONDAY 22nd JANUARY, 2018.
Next Sunday, 28th January, 2018 sees the Finals of all National, Ladies, Over 55
and Over 70 Pairs Competitions in the Cork Zone. Play will commence at 2 p.m.
in St. Anthony’s Hall, Ballinlough. I hope to see a large attendance to support
the players. After the Finals the usual after Finals Day Meal will take place at
Rochestown Park Hotel at 6.30 p.m. followed by the presentation of Trophies.
Club Secretaries are reminded to please return their completed Dinner Reservation
Forms/Cash a.s.a.p. Also, Prizes for the Raffle would be much appreciated.
Last year’s Trophy Winners are asked to contact the Convener re returning cups.
Bowlers who have not yet put their names down for the meal should do so as soon
as possible as numbers must to be given to the hotel by Thursday morning.

2018-19 LADIES & MENS INTERZONE COMPETITIONS
At a Meeting of the Cork Zone Committee held last week a discussion took
place re entering Ladies and Men Teams in the above competitions.
The matter was discussed under the following headings:
- Cost to the Cork Zone
- Personal Cost to Players (Time Off Work/Hotel/Travel)
- Commitment of selected players
- The number of Clubs represented on Team Selections
- Distance to Travel for away games
- Success rate of Ladies & Gents Teams over the last number of years.
After a very full discussion it was decided to take a year out and not compete
in the 2018-19 competitions. Instead, Clubs wishing to take part in competition
in the North may wish to enter the Club Championship Competition usually held
in Belfast Indoor Bowling Club, Shaws Bridge, Belfast, on the first Saturday of
November. Full details of competition is available from the Convener.

2018 AWARD FOR INDOOR BOWLS
The closing date for receipt of Nominations for this year’s C.I.S.A. Award for
Indoor Bowls is Wednesday 31st January, 2018. Any Club wishing to submit
a nomination must have the individual’s permission before doing so.
The Awards Ceremony will be held on Friday 13th April, 2018 at the Gresham
Metropole Hotel.
