Held in Douglas GAA after the League Presentations on 26th August ‘26.
Thanks was extended to the Clubs for their support in electing me at the AGM, to O’Brien’s Garage, Midleton for their years of support, though they are unable to continue with the Sponsorship after the 2026-2027 season and to the previous League Secretaries John Curran, Paul Deegan and Hazel Payne.
Changes for this year: Early issue of League Rules, Stickers and Scorecards (given out on the night).
Website updated more often. The results to be sent to the League Secretary on the night of the League Match by phone, text, messenger or e-mail by the Club Secretary or Umpire.
On the webpage where you look up the League Tables you will now see the League Rules and round by round fixtures and results as they come in. It is hoped to make the website as live as possible.
Can League Secretaries make their fixtures early and if they know members are going away play the games early?
Clubs are urged to arrange their League games in the afternoon if possible especially outlying clubs.
Proposed changes to the League: The League rules state that there should be 8 Teams in Divisions 1 & 2. I propose to have only one Team relegated in Divisions 1 & 2 at the end of 2026-2027 season and 2 promoted to Division 1 and 2 promoted to Division 2. This will give 8 Teams in Divisions 1 & 2, and 6 Teams in Divisions 3, 4, and 5. Support was granted for this proposal by the Clubs present.
The Club Secretaries were thanked for the response to my e-mail requesting their Club’s League contact details for the coming season. The Umpires who agreed to put their names forward to umpire the League matches for the coming season were also thanked.
No League match should be without an Umpire. An Umpire is allotted to each team so if an umpire is unavailable can the umpire contact a replacement? The League Secretary may to be contacted only as a last resort.
I also meant to mention at the meeting that the League Presentations will revert to the first two weeks of May in 2027.
